Having a digital footprint complicates estate planning. "Do I have a key to mom's apartment?" is no longer a simple question to ask when someone passes away. It may be as simple as: "What happens when a family member has been cremated, and afterward, it is discovered their smartphone was locked with a fingerprint or biometric facial scanner?". Recovering assets, particularly Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, is getting increasingly difficult as more people choose to receive their statements or notifications by email or text and use their phones to pay bills or manage their lives.

Bill Ulivieri, author of The Essential Estate Professionals Toolkit for Recovering Cryptocurrency will discuss the critical need for estate planning professionals to develop expertise in managing digital assets, ensuring they can effectively serve their clients in the evolving digital landscape.
